Who We Are

Owned by the Italian Frandino Group and originally founded in the 1950s as a fruit distillery, Sedamyl has grown to become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide. In 2012 the group expanded its international presence by opening a plant in Selby, UK.

 

What We Do

Sedamyl UK, uses Yorkshire-grown wheat in its production, which is purchased from a network in excess of 1,000 local farmers, so providing a valuable and sustained revenue stream. The announcement in 2021 to invest a further £80m in expanding both its distilling and liquid sweetener production, significantly boosts an already growing workforce to around 150 employees, creating in excess of 75 new jobs for the area.

 

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Customs Administrator to join our growing Logistics team in processing entries to HMRC for goods being both imported and exported worldwide. You will be responsible for ensuring all customs legislation is adhered to and goods customs cleared in a timely manner. Ideally you will have good planning and organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail and able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Generating import/export documentation for import/export worldwide
  • Liaising with our broker to arrange all import/export declarations for consignments outside the UK
  • Tracking and recording all customs entries
  • Checking import/export documents (SAD/C88)
  • Liaising with freight forwarder to establish good relations and competitive pricing
  • Chasing of outstanding purchase orders with vendors and recording any delays
  • Checking of delivery notes to ensure correct items have been delivered and updating information on our systems

 

Skills and Knowledge

 

  • Previous experience and knowledge of customs clearance
  • Previous experience within freight forwarding
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft systems
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
