Owned by the Italian Frandino Group and originally founded in the 1950s as a fruit distillery, Sedamyl has grown to become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide. In 2012 the group expanded its international presence by opening a plant in Selby, UK.

What We Do

Sedamyl UK, uses Yorkshire-grown wheat in its production, which is purchased from a network in excess of 1,000 local farmers, so providing a valuable and sustained revenue stream. The announcement in 2021 to invest a further £80m in expanding both its distilling and liquid sweetener production, significantly boosts an already growing workforce to around 150 employees, creating in excess of 75 new jobs for the area.

 What we are looking for:

We are looking to appoint an Accounts Administrator to work within our busy, growing finance team. The role will cover all aspects of both purchase and sales ledger, assist in credit control duties, chase accounts receivable outstanding invoices, as well as managing all accounts queries through phone or email enquiry.

The role will:

  • Operate the Purchase Order accounts system, making payments to suppliers and employees
  • Operate the Sales Order accounts system, issuing invoices and credit notes
  • Process all purchase invoices both with and without purchase orders, ensuring that approval for the goods/services has been received
  • Liaise with both vendors and customers to promptly resolve invoice queries
  • Initiate payment runs
  • Chase outstanding debts
  • Raise automatic and manual sales invoices
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements as well as supplier accounts
  • Prepare monthly VAT Return
  • Keep the system master data up to date
  • Support the customer service in case of need
  • Undertake any other reasonable task as requested by the Financial Controller

Skills and Knowledge

  • Recognized accounts industry qualification or working towards
  • At least three (3) years accounts experience
  • Must be computer literate (MS-office /Outlook).
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management and organization
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A working knowledge of SAP/Sage would be advantageous
  • Proactive communicative skills, with a strong customer focus and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Flexible and responsive to changing priorities

Working Hours & Salary:

Salary depending on experience
40-hour week Monday – Friday
32 holidays per year including Bank Holidays
