Who We Are
Owned by the Italian Frandino Group and originally founded in the 1950s as a fruit distillery, Sedamyl has grown to become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide. In 2012 the group expanded its international presence by opening a plant in Selby, UK.
What We Do
Sedamyl UK, uses Yorkshire-grown wheat in its production, which is purchased from a network in excess of 1,000 local farmers, so providing a valuable and sustained revenue stream. The announcement in 2021 to invest a further £80m in expanding both its distilling and liquid sweetener production, significantly boosts an already growing workforce to around 150 employees, creating in excess of 75 new jobs for the area.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced Loader/Forklift Driver to provide critical loading and offloading duties for the site operation. Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with Gate Controllers, Schedulers and Shift Operators to control all deliveries and outgoing transport, ensuring company guidelines are always adhered to
- Work as part of a small team involved in the day-to-day running of a busy department
- Effectively operate and monitor different types of analytical equipment running simultaneously
- Liaise with drivers to ensure loading schedule is achieved
- Compile all document data in relation to tank transfers
- Collect samples as required from deliveries, as well as finished products for testing
Skills and Knowledge
- Previous experience working in similar manufacturing environment
- A current (less than 3 years old) FLT qualification advantageous
- Proven experience of working to tight deadlines both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Basic IT skills, ability to input data into MS office products
- Good numeracy and literacy skills with good communication skills (oral and written)
- Must be a team player with a co-operative disposition, willing to support other team members as required to minimise disruption to site operation
- ISO system awareness would be advantageous
- Chemical handling awareness beneficial
