Who We Are

Owned by the Italian Frandino Group and originally founded in the 1950s as a fruit distillery, Sedamyl has grown to become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide. In 2012 the group expanded its international presence by opening a plant in Selby, UK.

 

What We Do

Sedamyl UK, uses Yorkshire-grown wheat in its production, which is purchased from a network in excess of 1,000 local farmers, so providing a valuable and sustained revenue stream. The announcement in 2021 to invest a further £80m in expanding both its distilling and liquid sweetener production, significantly boosts an already growing workforce to around 150 employees, creating in excess of 75 new jobs for the area.

 

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Site Facilities Operative to join our growing Logistics team to assist with all aspects of waste management, recycling, and general maintenance/housekeeping of outside areas. You will be responsible for delivering effective sortation/segregation of waste items, conducting equipment checks, checking inventory and performing routine cleaning tasks.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering practical support in all areas of waste management
  • Segregation, preparation and loading of materials to be recycled or sold
  • Segregation, preparation and loading of Ibc’s to be returned or sold
  • Management of waste area ensuring disposal of waste into the correct waste streams and reporting of any issues of poor segregation
  • Conducting daily equipment checks and reporting issues
  • Daily stock checks to ensure levels of fuel used on site are correctly managed i.e. gas bottles and diesel
  • Liaise with contractors regarding scheduled ground maintenance work
  • Carryout adhoc duties as required to support the logistics team
  • Pest control
  • Conducting of essential routine cleaning of loading and intake areas
  • Ensuring outside areas are of a clean standard and cleaning equipment checks of these areas
  • Supporting logistics team in transporting goods around site

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent team working skills
  • Full driving licence
  • FLT/Counterbalance Licence
  • Telescopic handler licence preferable
  • Communications skills
  • Physical fitness to undertake daily tasks
  • Willingness to work outside in all weathers
  • Basic computer skills
